A Senior Journey is led by Amanda Gelatt and Kristine Zwiers, two Tucson advisors with decades of senior care and healthcare experience between them. Both have spent years inside the assisted living communities and centers they recommend. Both will only suggest a community they would be proud to place their own family in. Founder

Amanda has worked in healthcare for over 19 years and has been doing senior living placement in Tucson for 20. She has worked with physicians, surgeons, hospice teams, as Sales Director at an independent and assisted living community, and as a senior living placement locator. Her advice is unbiased and experience-based. She puts the person you love first. Some agencies steer families toward the homes that pay them more. Amanda doesn't work that way. After 20 years, she knows what a good fit looks like, and that is what she is here to find. There is never a charge for her help. Communities pay her after a placement. Amanda speaks at health fairs, chamber events, and senior wellness groups across Tucson. She is a mom of four grown kids and proud Nana to four grandchildren.

Kristine started her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant in St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked in a Presbyterian Homes continuum-of-care community and saw first-hand both the challenges seniors face and how full a life they can lead with the right support. After 16 years raising her family, Kristine has come full circle and is back working with seniors. She has a degree in Speech Communications, and her real gift is listening. She helps families slow down, ask better questions, and feel calm in a process that often feels stressful and rushed. She also has a quiet talent for reading the room on a tour. She can tell from the moment a senior walks in whether the home is the right one. When they relax, smile, and look at peace, that is the match we are after.

State-Licensed Assisted Living Communities and Centers Only.

Every assisted living community or center we suggest is state-licensed and in good standing. We check state surveys often and tour each one in person. If we wouldn't place our own parent there, we won't suggest it for yours.

We Attend Tours With You.

We meet you at each home or community. We walk through with you. We ask the questions families don't always know to ask: staff turnover, medication rules, what happens if care needs change. The big national services book the tour and send you on your own. We do not do that.

Homes Where the Person You Love Can Stay.

We are looking for the home that fits today and in two years, not the one that quietly moves your loved one on when their care needs change. We never want a family to do this twice.

We Talk to Your Whole Care Team.

Need to coordinate with an RN Case Manager, social worker, or hospice team? We do that. We can review medical records and help line up the paperwork, equipment, and discharge plan.

About a quarter of the families we help live somewhere else. We attend tours so you don't have to fly in. We send updates, photos, and short videos. We can do Zoom calls with siblings in three time zones.

A Senior Journey was recommended to us by my husband’s neurologist as he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Dementia in 2016 and was beginning to decline more quickly and. It was time to make plans for future care. Amanda was extremely helpful in narrowing down Memory Care choices. After a lengthy intake interview, Amanda narrowed her initial search to 4 facilities, After touring each with her, I chose one I liked. Even though my husband was not ready, at least we had a file open at our choice when the time came. And it did 10 months later.
